Last Saturday night: The girls wanted to watch the meteor shower. Sure, why not? I agreed to set the alarm for 2 a.m., which was when the viewing was supposed to be best.
We woke up the next morning at 6. What happened??, they wanted to know.
Me: "I have no idea. You SAW me set the alarm. I’m so sorry, girls, I must have done something wrong."
Such as (it turns out): Set the alarm for 2 a.m. WEDNESDAY. As in last night. This morning. Whatever. Don’t ask me how I managed that. My brain can’t formulate a response on this little sleep.
UPDATE: Bummer. According to Chris at Notes from the Trenches, we missed something priceless.
I can sympathize. I have 4 sick kids-even being on vacation with my in-laws and my husband to help I’ve logged about 6 hours of sleep in the last 2 days. How in the world are you holding up? Need any of us to fed ex you some chocolate? I set the alarm on Sunday for church (since my husband’s the pastor, I figured we should be ON TIME). UNfortunately, my son was listening to CDs on the alarm clock, so it was set to CD and didn’t make any noise. Good thing my little 2-yr-old alarm clock was up in time!
The first (and only) time I stayed up to watch a meteor shower it didn’t materialise. Turned out it was in Australia. Oops! Wrong hemisphere :(. I decided that maybe astronomy was not for me. Hope you get a good night’s sleep tonight.
