20/400 Foresight

It is so intensely frustrating to me that I still cannot locate the Math-U-See Algebra program I bought before we left Virginia. Argh argh argh. Here I thought I was being ohhh so clever, buying it early while we still lived in a state with lower sales tax than California’s.

I have been through every box, I think. And yet I know it’s there, it must be there, somewhere.

Jane finished the MUS Pre-Algebra book shortly after we arrived here. Since then, we’ve been working out of the Jacobs Algebra book, which is certainly an excellent text. It’s just not Math-U-See. And she loooves Math-U-See. And I love it, too, because Steve Demme’s explanations of concepts are so clear and simple and memorable; and because Jane can work through it on her own.

Note to self: Leave the cleverly frugal strategies for people who are, you know, ORGANIZED and can remember where they put things.

  1. I’m sure you’ve tried St Anthony, but have you tried bribing, I mean, incentivising him?! He loves the poor so if you promise to give a donation to the poor when you find the lost item, he will pull all the stops out…
Sounds a bit dodgy, but theologically fine once you get your head round it. And works. Hope you find it soon!

  2. I’m sorry you aren’t able to find it Melissa. Praying that the our helper, the Holy Spirit will lead you right to it.
We love MUS at our house too. Ds just finished Delta and will be moving to Epsilon.

  3. Ahh.. but you forgot – one of my favorite quotes is “Organized people are just too lazy to look for stuff.” I have that sign in my oh-so-cluttered kitchen. And I bought some of that MUS stuff when you recommended it long ago. Do I know where it is?? HAHAHAHAHAHA. Nope. 🙂 Hugs and kisses to you.

  4. The pixies have it. They will bring it back and put it somewhere totally obvious where you have already looked. They are mischevious that way. I hope they bring it back soon.

  5. I’m sorry you still haven’t found it. I hate it when that sort of thing happens to me.
I hope it turns up soon.

  6. If it’s any consolation, I’m still certain that, one of these days, I’ll locate that VCR that turned up missing on our move from Germany…six years ago! After all, who would steal a twenty dollar VCR? It must be in one of these boxes somewhere…

  7. I was just frantically going through boxes this morning, looking for those Melissa and Doug wooden foods that I knew HAD to be with dd’s school stuff. Where else would they be? Well, with our altar linens and candles, of course! Silly me.

  8. I bought MUS, we started it and loved it, then PROMPTLY lost the DVD. Gone. After months of searching, I gave up and bought another one. So, big old ditto on the whole ‘organized’ thing.
